Mendota D40 Deep Timber Gas Fireplace Insert
If you've got a fireplace that mostly sits cold, the Mendota D40 Deep Timber gas insert is worth a look. It drops into the existing opening and gives you a gas log fire with a wide span between low and high fire: 10,000 to 40,000 BTU/hr input on natural gas.
The D40 keeps things straightforward. It uses a standing pilot powered by a thermopile and a 190 CFM dual blower system that runs on house power. Mendota lists 75.9% P.4 efficiency. It needs an opening at least 34-1/4 inches wide, 23-1/4 inches high, and 16-1/4 inches deep.
What Makes the D40 Deep Timber Different
- Wide input range. From 10,000 BTU/hr up to 40,000 BTU/hr on natural gas, so you can run a gentle fire or turn it up.
- Standing pilot. The standing pilot and thermopile make their own power. In an outage the manual allows one hour on and one hour off, and the blower won't run.
- Dual blowers. A 190 CFM dual blower system helps move heat out of the fireplace and into the room.
- Sealed combustion. A sealed-combustion direct vent design with Mendota's BurnGreen system, vented to the outside.
This listing is the Mendota D40 Deep Timber direct vent gas fireplace insert, model AA-11-00709, with ratings for natural gas and propane.
