Napoleon Rosedale RD2 Direct Vent Gas Insert

The Napoleon Rosedale RD2 is a compact direct vent gas insert for an existing masonry or factory-built wood fireplace that is on the smaller side. It is built for openings as small as 18 inches high and 27 inches wide, which rules out a lot of other inserts, and it brings a sealed gas fire with a glass front to a fireplace that has probably been sitting cold. You choose the look with an Oak or Birch log kit and a faceplate and backerplate, all sold separately.

The RD2 is the electronic ignition model in the Rosedale line. The blower is built in and wired at the factory, a remote control comes in the box, and the safety barrier is standard. It needs a 120 volt outlet inside the firebox, and the ignition has a battery backup so the fire still lights when the power is out. It comes in natural gas, and a propane conversion kit is available.

What Makes the Rosedale RD2 Different

• Fits a small fireplace. The minimum opening is 18 in high, 27 in wide, and 15 in deep, so it works in fireplaces that are too small for most inserts.
• Blower and remote included. The heat circulating blower is built in and the remote control ships with the unit, so there is nothing to add for everyday use.
• Your logs, your trim. Choose the Oak or Birch log kit, then a 4-sided faceplate and a 3-sided, 4-sided, or trimmable backerplate to finish the opening. Newport or Westminster brick panels and a black porcelain reflective panel are optional.
• Electronic ignition with battery backup. The pilot runs only when you want a fire, and a holder for 4 AA batteries keeps the ignition working during an outage.

Ownership & Maintenance
