Napoleon High Definition 81 Direct Vent Gas Fireplace
The Napoleon High Definition 81 is a large see-through gas fireplace, with a clean face and a 36.75 by 30.75 inch viewing area on each side, so one fire serves two rooms. It ships without a burner on purpose: you choose the burner assembly, an Oak log set, glass embers, or mineral rocks, and that choice sets the whole character of the fire. The burner assembly is required and sold separately.
The rest is in the box. The safety barrier screens for both sides, the glass doors, the remote control with batteries, and two steel stud framing kits with cement board all come with the unit, along with a flex gas connector and shut-off. Two Night Lights, one per side, let it glow with the burner off, and the control has a battery back-up for power outages. It is a natural gas unit; a propane conversion kit is available. It uses electronic ignition and needs a hard-wired 120 volt connection, which we plan for during installation. It is built in Ontario, Canada.
What Makes the High Definition 81 Different
- Big see-through opening. Over 30 inches of glass height on both faces makes this one of the tallest views in a see-through gas fireplace, closer to a wood fireplace than a linear box.
- You choose the burner. Oak logs, glass embers, or mineral rocks, each as its own burner assembly, so the fire is built for the media rather than dressed over it.
- Framing kit included. Napoleon supplies two steel stud framing kits with cement board, which must be used, so the structure around the unit is part of the package.
- On Demand ignition. Electronic intermittent pilot ignition with a continuous pilot mode and a 7-day timer gives you control over how the pilot runs.
This listing is the current Napoleon High Definition 81, model HD81NT-1, natural gas with electronic ignition; the burner assembly (Oak log B81NL-1, glass ember B81NG-1, or mineral rock B81NS-1) is required and sold separately, and the decorative side panels (sandstone brick GD874KT or MIRRO-FLAME porcelain PRP81-1) are sold separately.

Ownership & Maintenance
The safety barrier on each side comes with the fireplace and must stay installed. The remote uses 3 AAA batteries, which are supplied, and the battery back-up holder takes 4 AA. A hearth extension is not required but Napoleon recommends one for looks. The unit must be hard wired to 120 volts. We offer ongoing service for our customers.
