Napoleon Altitude X 42 Direct Vent Gas Fireplace

The Napoleon Altitude X 42 is the bigger brother of the Altitude X 36, with a 42.25 x 36.13 in window and the same clean-face design that puts the fire front and center with no heavy frame around it. The flame fills the firebox, and the look is yours to set. Napoleon's High Definition Oak, Driftwood, or Birch log kits go on the burner, and the backdrop is a decorative panel in Newport brick, Westminster Grey brick in standard or herringbone pattern, Black Illusion Glass, or MIRRO-FLAME reflective porcelain. Logs and panels are both sold separately.

It arrives with a lot already in the box. Two variable-speed blowers are built in, the ProFlame II remote and eFIRE Bluetooth controller are included, Napoleon's Night Light is built in, and the non-combustible board for the finish above and beside the opening ships loose in the carton, so that is one less thing to source. The safety barrier is standard. Napoleon designs it with TVs in mind, and heat management kits are available if the fireplace wall is also the media wall. It is built in Ontario, Canada, and comes in natural gas and propane versions.

• On Demand ignition. Electronic intermittent pilot ignition with a continuous pilot mode and a 7-day timer gives you control over how the pilot runs.

This listing is the current Napoleon Altitude X 42 (AX42-2), model AX42NTE-2 for natural gas or AX42PTE-2 for propane, with electronic ignition. The log set and decorative panels are required and sold separately.

Ownership & Maintenance

The safety barrier comes with the fireplace and must be installed, and so do the top and bottom door trims that ship with it. The remote takes 3 AAA batteries and the battery holder takes 4 AA for backup. The unit sits on a raised platform to allow for the finished floor, with no hearth extension needed; we plan that during the install. We offer ongoing service for our customers.
