For a propane home with an old wood fireplace, the Valor G3 is a straightforward switch to gas. Valor introduced the G3 in 1991, and the 739M version gives you five fuel bed choices: Classic, Legend, or Traditional logs, Pebble Beach Driftwood, or a bed of rocks. That range makes it easy to go rustic or keep things simple.
The 739MP engine includes AutoFire and a Valor Plus remote. It runs on battery power and doesn't need household electricity to operate as a heater, and Valor describes it as a radiant fireplace that heats the room directly. It goes into an existing, working solid-fuel fireplace and chimney. Plan on choosing a fuel bed, liner, front, and surround along with the engine.
This listing is the Valor 739MP engine, the G3 direct vent gas insert for propane. The fuel bed, liner, front, and surround are sold separately.
Output and EnerGuide numbers are Valor ratings, not a promise of how a particular room will feel. Your space, layout, and installation all play a part.
The optional circulating fan runs from a speed control or wall control, not the remote, and needs a grounded power source. Hearth Doctor customers get support after the sale.
We'll look at your fireplace and chimney, plan the liners, and help you pick a fuel bed and front that fit the room. See more gas fireplace inserts, or talk with us at our Auburn, Brunswick, and Yarmouth showrooms.
