Mendota DXV42 Timberfire Gas Fireplace
If you want a classic log fire with controls that don't ask much of you, the Mendota DXV42 Timberfire is worth a look. A 6-piece log set sits behind non-reflective NeoCeram glass, with a visible glass area of 32-7/8 by 16-11/16 inches, so the fire has room to spread out and there's little glare in the way.
It's a direct vent fireplace with a standing pilot thermopile and thermocouple safety, plus an optional thermostat. Natural gas input runs from 27,000 to 40,000 BTU/hr and propane from 22,000 to 38,000 BTU/hr. A 190 CFM dual blower system runs on 120 volt power.
What Makes the DXV42 Timberfire Different
- Simple standing pilot. Thermocouple safety with a standing pilot thermopile keeps the control system basic, with a thermostat available if you want one.
- Low-glare glass. Non-reflective NeoCeram glass keeps your view on the 6-piece log set.
- Works in an outage, with limits. Mendota's manual says the burners and flame height adjustment still work during a power outage, in one hour on, one hour off cycles. The fan won't run without power.
