Renaissance Rumford 1000 Wood-Burning Fireplace

The Renaissance Rumford 1000 gives you a real wood fire with a clean face and nothing hanging on the front. The fire sits in a tall, shallow Rumford-style firebox, and when you want the glass closed, the guillotine door slides down from above. When you don't, it tucks away out of sight.

It's a factory-built wood-burning fireplace, and Renaissance says the door moves so smoothly it opens with just a finger. You pick the look of the firebox yourself, either refractory brick in a running bond pattern or vermiculite panels in a herringbone pattern. The EPA treats it as a fireplace rather than a wood heater, and with the vermiculite lining it has met the Phase 2 level of the EPA's voluntary fireplace program.

What Makes the Rumford 1000 Different

• Door that disappears. The ceramic glass door and the firescreen both slide up and hide above the opening, so the fireplace looks open and uncluttered when you want it to.
• Your choice of lining. Refractory brick in a running bond gives a classic masonry look. Vermiculite panels in a herringbone pattern are the option Renaissance tested for lower emissions.
• Tested clean burning. With the vermiculite lining, Renaissance lists 3.0 g/kg with the door open and 1.0 g/kg with the door closed under ASTM E2558.
• Gas logs later if you want. It's approved for listed vented gas log sets and has an access panel for an aftermarket gas log assembly.

Ownership & Maintenance
