Forge & Flame Encore Wood Stove, crafted with Vermont Castings Finish

Finish

The Vermont Castings Encore brings together the details wood stove owners ask for: a cast iron griddle top for cooking, top loading, and a choice of Traditional or Transition doors. Its catalytic combustor helps it burn long and clean, and Vermont Castings rates it for up to 12 hours on a load and 48,000 BTU/hr of peak output.

It's a stove you can live with every day. The 2.3 cubic foot firebox takes 18 inch logs easily (22 inches maximum), thermostatic combustion control keeps the heat more even, and the swing-out ash pan makes cleanup less of a chore. Classic Black comes with Traditional or Transition doors, and there are three enamel colors to choose from.

What Makes the Encore Different

  • Cast iron griddle top. The top is a real cooking surface, handy for a pot of soup or a kettle.
  • Catalytic combustor. It adds efficiency on long, low burns, and the Encore is certified to the EPA 2020 standard at 1.1 g/hr.
  • Top loading. Load from the top to keep smoke and ash contained and fit more wood.
  • Thermostatic control. The stove adjusts combustion air on its own for longer, more even heat.
  • Color and door choices. Classic Black with two door styles, plus Bordeaux, Majolica Brown, and Twilight enamels.

This listing is the Vermont Castings Encore catalytic wood stove, offered in Classic Black with Transition doors (2040T-CAT-C) or Traditional doors (2040-CAT-C), and with Traditional doors in Twilight Enamel (2046-CAT-C), Majolica Brown Enamel (2042-CAT-C), and Bordeaux Enamel (2044-CAT-C).

Ownership & Maintenance

The catalytic combustor should be inspected periodically and will eventually need replacement. The Encore is not approved for use with a spark screen. Hearth Doctor customers get support after the sale, including help with that upkeep.

Talk with us about the Encore at our Auburn, Brunswick, and Yarmouth showrooms and compare it with other wood stoves. We'll help with chimney planning, clearances, hearth protection, and installation.
