Valor RetroFire Gas Insert, Propane
The Valor RetroFire is built to go into existing masonry and factory-built wood-burning fireplaces, so it works with either kind of existing wood fireplace. It gives you a 21-1/2 by 11-3/4 inch view of the fire over driftwood or traditional logs, and you can dress up the opening with a Traditional or Ventana fret.
This RF24JDP runs on propane, from 12,500 to 18,000 Btu/h input. Every RetroFire needs one of two slider plates, sold separately: the RA24CL co-linear plate, which adds Valor's AutoFire, or the RA24CA co-axial plate. The plate you choose changes the output and EnerGuide ratings, so we'll help you weigh them for your chimney.
What Makes the RetroFire Different
- Fits masonry or factory-built fireplaces. It's designed for both kinds of existing wood-burning fireplaces.
- Two venting choices. A co-linear plate with AutoFire, or a co-axial plate for 5 by 3 inch venting.
- No household power needed. It doesn't need electricity unless you add the optional fan.
- Fret options. Traditional or Ventana frets give the front a finished look.
This listing is the Valor RF24JDP RetroFire direct vent insert engine for propane. A slider plate (RA24CL or RA24CA) and a log kit are required and sold separately.

Ownership & Maintenance
The optional 555CFK fan runs from a speed control or wall control rather than the remote, and it needs a grounded power source. We offer ongoing service for our customers.
We'll look at your fireplace and chimney and help you decide between the co-linear and co-axial plates, then plan the install. See more gas fireplace inserts or stop by our Auburn, Brunswick, and Yarmouth showrooms.
