The Jotul GI 545 DV Winter Harbor is a direct vent gas insert for people who want a gas fire in their existing wood fireplace and like the idea of simple, familiar controls. It runs on natural gas or propane.
It uses millivolt gas controls and a pilot you light with a push-button spark igniter, so there's no electronic ignition module. The blower is optional, which means you can decide whether you want one. If you add it, the blower runs on household power. The insert vents through two 3-inch liners run up your existing chimney.
