It runs on natural gas or propane and vents through flexible liners run up the chimney you already have.

Every insert is finished with an outer frame, a surround, an interior panel and a log set, and all four get chosen when it is ordered. Ortal offers four frames and four surrounds, so the trim can be sized to cover the old opening cleanly. The traditional proportions and brick panel options suit a fireplace with a mantel.

What Makes the Ortal Wilderness Insert IN34 Different

Wilderness burner. Flames come up through the logs for a wood-fire look.

Uses the existing chimney. Co-linear flex liners, no new vent run through the wall.

Finished to fit. Four frame sizes and four surrounds to cover the old opening.

App control. Remote, wall switch and Wi-Fi app included.

Key Specifications

Fits: Existing masonry fireplaces; we measure the opening and check the chimney before recommending a size

Viewing area: 29 13/16 in x 20 3/16 in

Natural gas input: up to 35,000 BTU/hr (82% efficiency, Ortal rating)

Propane input: up to 35,000 BTU/hr (84% efficiency, Ortal rating)

Venting: 4 in and 3 in co-linear flex liners up the existing chimney

Heat barrier: Protective screen front

Interior panels: Blackridge, red brick or tan brick

Log sets: Dark Brown or Chopped Wood

Controls: Remote, Wi-Fi app and wall switch

Input and efficiency figures are Ortal's published ratings.
