ortal-wilderness-60h
Ortal Wilderness 60H

The Ortal Wilderness 60H is a linear direct vent gas fireplace. Ortal's Wilderness burner runs the flame up through the log set instead of along a bed in front of it, so the fire reads much closer to wood than a typical linear gas fireplace. It still has the clean steel frame and large glass Ortal is known for, and it runs on natural gas or propane.

This is the H height version of the 60 inch Wilderness, the mid height, with taller glass than the standard model. You can order it front facing, as a left or right corner or three sided. The front is either Ortal's double glass heat barrier, which keeps the outer glass cool enough to touch, or a micro mesh protective screen. It is offered with the standard log set or the Long Driftwood set, and the long logs change the venting requirement, so that choice gets made early.

With the Long Driftwood log set this model needs a power vent. With the standard logs it can run on a passive vent in many layouts. We confirm which applies from the manual once we know the log set and the vent route.

What Makes the Wilderness 60H Different

Wilderness burner. Flames come up through the logs for a wood-fire look.

Four ways to set it in the wall. Available front facing, as a left or right corner or three sided.

Glass or screen. Double glass heat barrier or micro mesh screen, your choice.

App control. Remote, wall switch and Wi-Fi app are all included on the Wilderness line.

Key Specifications

Viewing area: 60 1/8 in x 21 5/8 in

Natural gas input: up to 52,000 BTU/hr (78.2% efficiency, Ortal rating)

Propane input: up to 48,000 BTU/hr (79.5% efficiency, Ortal rating)

Venting: 5 in x 8 in coaxial direct vent; Ortal 3 in x 5 in power vent required with the Long Driftwood log set

Heat barrier: Double glass or micro mesh protective screen

Log sets: Short Driftwood, Long Driftwood, Birch or Valley Oak

Controls: Remote, Wi-Fi app and wall switch

Weight: 509 lb (double glass), 473 lb (screen)

Input and efficiency figures are Ortal's published ratings.
