ortal-wilderness-44
Ortal Wilderness 44

The Ortal Wilderness 44 is a linear direct vent gas fireplace. Ortal's Wilderness burner runs the flame up through the log set instead of along a bed in front of it, so the fire reads much closer to wood than a typical linear gas fireplace. It still has the clean steel frame and large glass Ortal is known for, and it runs on natural gas or propane.

This is the standard height version of the 44 inch Wilderness, the lowest glass of the three heights, a wide ribbon of fire. You can order it front facing, as a left or right corner or three sided. The front is either Ortal's double glass heat barrier, which keeps the outer glass cool enough to touch, or a micro mesh protective screen.

What Makes the Wilderness 44 Different

Wilderness burner. Flames come up through the logs for a wood-fire look.

Four ways to set it in the wall. Available front facing, as a left or right corner or three sided.

Glass or screen. Double glass heat barrier or micro mesh screen, your choice.

App control. Remote, wall switch and Wi-Fi app are all included on the Wilderness line.

Key Specifications

Viewing area: 43 5/8 in x 15 3/4 in

Natural gas input: up to 32,163 BTU/hr (79.7% efficiency, Ortal rating)

Propane input: up to 31,400 BTU/hr (80.4% efficiency, Ortal rating)

Venting: 5 in x 8 in coaxial direct vent; Ortal power vent optional

Heat barrier: Double glass or micro mesh protective screen

Log sets: Short Driftwood, Birch or Valley Oak

Controls: Remote, Wi-Fi app and wall switch

Weight: 357 lb (double glass), 344 lb (screen)

Input and efficiency figures are Ortal's published ratings.
