ortal-curve-270-signature-burner
Ortal Curve 270 (Signature Burner)

The Ortal Curve 270 is a curved glass fireplace open on three sides, 270 degrees of view with one side against a wall or column. It is a freestanding direct vent gas fireplace meant to stand against a wall, a column or the end of a partition, with the curved glass open to the room on the other three sides. Ortal's Signature burner is a long ribbon of flame rising from a bed of glass, pebbles or logs, which is the contemporary look most people picture when they think of a linear gas fireplace. It runs on natural gas or propane.

It is ordered with or without a flat hood above the glass and with or without a base below it, which is mostly about how you want it to meet the ceiling and the floor. Because it stands free, the gas line and vent route depend on the floor and ceiling structure, and the manual sets what is allowed, so that routing is the first thing to settle with the builder. The vent is a passive coaxial run or an Enervex power vent, depending on the route.

What Makes the Curve 270 Different

Glass on three sides. A curved front and two open ends, with the fourth side against a wall or column.

Hood and base options. Four combinations to suit the ceiling and floor.

Signature burner. A ribbon of flame over logs, pebbles or glass.

Key Specifications

Natural gas input: up to 28,500 BTU/hr (77.8% efficiency, Ortal rating)

Propane input: up to 33,029 BTU/hr (73.9% efficiency, Ortal rating)

Venting: 5 in x 8 in coaxial direct vent, or Enervex power vent

Heat barrier: Double glass on all three viewing sides

Fire bed: Logs, pebbles or glass

Controls: Remote and wall switch

Input and efficiency figures are Ortal's published ratings.
