The name is the metric body size, 40 by 70 cm, so the glass is about 17 inches wide and 28 inches tall. Ortal's Signature burner is a long ribbon of flame rising from a bed of glass, pebbles or logs, which is the contemporary look most people picture when they think of a linear gas fireplace. It runs on natural gas or propane.

It is one of the smallest fireplaces Ortal makes. You can order it front facing, as a left or right corner, three sided or as a see-through between two rooms. It comes with a micro mesh protective screen front. The see-through version has glass on both long sides so the fire shows in two rooms.

What Makes the 40H70 Different

Signature burner. A ribbon of flame over logs, pebbles or glass.

Configurations. Available front facing, as a left or right corner, three sided or as a see-through between two rooms.

Key Specifications

Viewing area: 16 7/8 in x 27 9/16 in

Natural gas input: up to 23,670 BTU/hr (79.5% efficiency, Ortal rating)

Propane input: up to 21,073 BTU/hr (73.9% efficiency, Ortal rating)

Venting: 4 in x 6 in coaxial direct vent

Heat barrier: Protective screen front

Interior panels: Standard matte

Fire bed: Logs, pebbles or glass

Controls: Remote and wall switch

Weight: 153 lb

Input and efficiency figures are Ortal's published ratings.
